Cordwainer Smith (1913–1966)
Cordwainer Smith was the pen name of Paul Myron Anthony Linebarger, an American author, academic, and expert in psychological warfare. His highly original and poetic science fiction often explored themes of humanity's distant future, the evolution of intelligent species, and a distinctive, dreamlike cosmic history. Linebarger served as an intelligence officer during World War II and the Korean War, and his experiences deeply informed the complex political and cultural landscapes of his imaginative works.
